Carotid Artery Scan

30–45 min
  • No fasting required
  • Wear a loose-fitting top or shirt with a low neckline
  • Avoid wearing necklaces or scarves on the day
  • Bring your referral letter and Medicare card
  • Continue all regular medications as prescribed

Renal (Kidney) Duplex

Abdomino-Pelvic Venous Study

30–45 min
  • Fast for 4–6 hours before your appointment (water is fine)
  • Avoid carbonated drinks and chewing gum on the day
  • A full bladder may be required — drink 1 litre of water 1 hour before
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
  • Bring your referral letter and Medicare card

This study assesses pelvic venous disorder (pelvic congestion syndrome). Please inform our staff if you are pregnant.

Varicose Veins

  • Wear or bring a pair of shorts — the legs need to be accessible

  • Avoid applying moisturiser or cream to your legs on the day

On the Day

What to Expect

01

Arrival & Check-In

Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment. Our reception team will check your referral and Medicare details and guide you through any paperwork.

Meeting Your Sonographer

Your accredited vascular sonographer will introduce themselves, explain the procedure, and answer any questions before the study begins.

03

The Scan

Warm gel is applied to the skin and a handheld probe is gently moved over the area. The procedure is completely painless and non-invasive. No radiation is used.

04

Your Results

Your report is reviewed by our on-site vascular surgeon and sent to your referring doctor within 24 hours. Your doctor will discuss the results with you at your next appointment.
